Looking
to the Future
Each year Neve Menashe
takes on new handicapped patients who need expert care and attention.
With professional help and the right facilities, many can live fulfilling
and happy lives.
For those confined to
bed or wheelchairs, we can at least make sure they are comfortable,
warm and well fed.
Such care is expensive.
It requires a high ratio of staff to residents as well as special
facilities. Their needs are always with us, and because demands
on our limited resources increase steadily, there is a constant
need to upgrade accomodation and specialist facilities.
The most immediate aim
is to reduce overcrowding. Some of our residents are still living
five to a bedroom designed for two, so new purpose-built accomodation
for them is a priority.
Exercise is essential
therapy for the handicapped. Those with behavioural disturbances
need to direct their energies into healthy channels while others
need exercise for medical reasons and as an adjunct to physiotherapy.
At the moment, Neve
Menashe has no gymnasium or swimming pool. When funds are forthcoming,
we hope to enhance the quality of life of our residents by providing
these important facilities.
The
Friends of Neve Menashe:
The Friends of Neve Menashe was founded by a small
group of concerned people who care about improving the welfare and
living conditions of the mentally handicapped. By helping the residents,
the Friends of Neve Menashe also offers support and encouragement
to the staff in their wonderful work with a much-neglected part
of our community.
Our
Doors are Always Open:
Take time to visit us in Israel. If you could see
a caregiver talking tenderly, naturally, and patiently with an adult
whose mental skills are those of a five-year old, you would understand
the importance of even the smallest contribution.
Make a donation, become a friend, earmark a sum
for a specific project. You will be reaching out to men and women
whom fate has left defenseless.
Your assistance can make a huge difference.
